5 Questions Everyone Asks Their Realtor VS 5 Questions You SHOULD Ask Your Realtor

Morse Lake Information & News

What Everyone Asks

1. Is your commission negotiable?

What You Should Be Asking

1. If I use your services to sell my home AND buy a home can we negotiate your commission?  Most Realtors will be happy to negotiate with you if you are willing to use their services for both the sell AND buy side.

What Everyone Asks:

2. I’m interested in buying a particular home, do you like it?

What You Should Be Asking

2. I’m interested in buying a particular home, do you think it is a good investment? What trends on home values do you see in this neighborhood? Do you see the value of this home increasing in the next 5 years?  In my opinion, too many people get caught up in shiny stainless steel appliances and granite countertops and forget to look at the whole picture – will this home hold it’s value? Is it a good way to invest my money?

What Everyone Asks:

3. How much should I spend on a home?

What You Should Be Asking

3. This is actually a question you shouldn’t even be asking your Realtor, but a mortgage broker. My job as a Realtor is to help you find the very best deal and invest your money wisely. A trusted mortgage broker can help you look deeper into your personal financial situation and figure out exactly how much you can afford to invest. Please ask if you are in need of a good mortgage broker – I work with many that I trust and would highly recommend.

What Everyone Asks:

4. Do you like the new upgrades I just did to my home

What You Should Be Asking

4. What/if any upgrades or changes would be good for me to do to my home? Every single one of us is emotionally attached to our home – I’m just as guilty. We have all worked very hard to make our house “a home” and have added personal touches that we feel are perfect. We all think our home is good just the way it is. It is always a good idea to ask your realtor what changes/improvement you can make – an outside opinion is never a bad idea. As a realtor, I’ve seen thousands of homes – I have a very good idea of what buyers are looking for & what minor changes you can make to help sell your home! Ask for my help!

What Everyone Asks:

5. I want a good deal and am only interested in looking at foreclosures, do you know of any in the area?

What You Should Be Asking

5. I’m interested in finding a home that is an excellent investment, can you help me find one? Just because a house is a foreclosure does not mean it is a good deal. I’ve personally listed more than one foreclosure the bank listed too high, in my opinion. There are many homeowners looking to sell quickly & many great deals to be found – that are NOT foreclosures. Don’t limit yourself!

I would welcome the opportunity to assist you with selling or buying your next home!
