If you’re like me, the recent snow day and 2 hour delay for Noblesville Schools has me searching for activities to get my kids out of the house and get them moving! Here are some fantastic classes offered for kids from the Noblesville Parks Department – starting in January! Register now!

Give your children or grandchildren a fun start to 2011 by signing them up for January recreation programs from the Noblesville Parks Department. Programs for children will be:

Children’s Musical Keyboarding – NEW CLASS! (Forest Park Lodge): Children ages 6 – 11 years old are invited to learn the joy of a musical instrument through keyboard instruction. Why not give a keyboard and lessons this holiday season? Bring your keyboard, a set of headphones for your keyboard and your own keyboard stand. No need to bring a keyboard bench. Children do not need to know how to read music. Cost is $48 per child for Noblesville residents/$55 for non-residents. One session offered:
o Mondays, January 10, 17, 24, 31, February 7, and 14 from 5:45 – 6:30pm

Preschool Cheerleading – NEW CLASS! (Forest Park Inn): This class for 3 – 5 year olds focuses on different aspects of cheer, including basic motions, jumps/kicks, dance, cheers/chants, and stunts. There will be a performance the last 10 minutes of the final class. Cost is $35 per child for Noblesville residents/$40 for non-residents. One session offered:
o Thursdays, January 13, 20, 27, and February 3 from 5:15 – 6:00pm

Mommy & Me Creative Movement (Forest Park Lodge): This parent and child class for babies 18 – 24 months blends educational concepts with various forms of movement, dance, and gymnastics to help develop gross motor skills, movement, fitness, creativity, and body awareness. Cost is $25 per child for Noblesville residents/$30 for non-residents. One session offered:
o Mondays, January 10, 17, 24, and 31 from 9:30 – 10:00am

o For ages 8 – 12: Tuesdays, January 12, 19, 26, and February 2 from 7:15 – 8:00pm

Mommy & Me Ballet (Forest Park Lodge): This class is a developmental dance, motor development, and fitness program that teaches the basics of ballet, acrobatics, and creative movements. The class is for children ages 2 – 4 and the best part is that Mom gets to join the fun! Cost is $25 per child for Noblesville residents/$30 for non-residents. One session offered:
o Mondays, January 10, 17, 24, and 31 from 10:15 – 11:00am

Intro to Karate for 4 and 5 year olds (Forest Park Lodge): This class helps develop the basics of karate in a fun, safe, and non-competitive setting. Designed to acquaint young children with karate, class structure, and develop basic non-contact skills, a parent may participate with his/her child. Cost is $35 per child for Noblesville residents/$40 for non-residents. One session offered:
o Mondays, January 10, 17, 24, and 31 from 5:00 – 5:45pm

Karate I (Forest Park Lodge): Skills developed will include patience, respect, self-confidence, kicking, blocking, and rolling. Children under age 5 must complete at least two Intro to Karate classes first before moving up to Karate I. Techniques for basic, entry level karate are taught. Fee includes a white belt. Cost is $40 per child per session for Noblesville residents/$45 for non-residents. Two sessions offered:
o Mondays, January 10, 17, 24, and 31 from 6:00 – 7:00pm
o Saturdays, January 15, 22, 29, and February 5 from 11:00am – 12:00pm

Kids Chorus for Ages 6 – 12 (Forest Park Lodge): This chorus is for children who love to sing and enjoy musical experiences. As part of a complete musical education program, this class includes vocal warm-ups, sight-singing, rhythmic exercises, theory, and more. Cost is $48 per child for Noblesville residents/$55 for non-residents. Two sessions offered:
o Mondays, January 10, 17, 24, 31, February 7, and 14 from 6:45 – 7:30pm
o Thursdays, January 13, 20, 27, February 3, 10, and 17 from 7:00 – 7:45pm

Intro to Athletics (Forest Park Lodge): Children 3 through 6 years old learn as well as refine basic motor skills that will serve them in sports in later years. Using foam equipment and lots of energy, these classes address physical fundamentals necessary in athletic activities. Cost is $37 per child for Noblesville residents/$44 for non-residents. One session offered:
o Tuesdays, January 11, 18, 25, and February 1 from 9:30 – 10:30am

Spanishgarten (Forest Park Lodge): This class is for children age 2 ½ to 5 years old along with a parent or caregiver. It is fun and interactive, using puppets, music, and games. This immersion program is a wonderful way to open a child’s world to the beautiful language of Spanish. Cost is $60 per child for Noblesville residents/$65 for non-residents. One session offered:
o Tuesdays, January 11, 18, 25, and February 1 from 9:30 – 10:15am

Tumbling for 4 – 7 Year Olds (Forest Park Lodge): This class teaches basic skills needed to be successful in gymnastics, cheer, and sports. The focus is on teaching the correct way to perform
rolls, bridges, cartwheels and other stunts. Spotlight on mat skills and a variety of other props. Cost is $35 per child for Noblesville residents/$40 for non-residents. One session offered:
o Tuesdays, January 11, 18, 25, and February 1 from 5:15 – 6:00pm

Heart for Art (Forest Park Lodge): This program incorporates a variety of art activities such as painting, pottery, mosaics, candle/soap creation, woodshop, and more. Participants will complete 1 – 2 projects. Cost is $57 per child for Noblesville residents/$62 for non-residents. Two sessions offered:
o For ages 6 – 8: Tuesdays, January 12, 19, 26, and February 2 from 6:15 – 7:00pm

Baby Sign, Say, and Play (Forest Park Lodge): This six week class for babies 6 – 24 months uses music, games, and interactive activities to teach parents and babies sign language. Babies who use sign language experience reduced frustration as toddlers, as do their parents. Families who use sign language also experience babies who talk sooner and have larger vocabulary than their non-signing peers. Cost is $67 per baby for Noblesville residents/$74 for non-residents. One session offered:
o Wednesdays, January 12, 29, 26, February 2, 9, and 16 from 9:30 – 10:15am

Preschool Kidz Fitness (Forest Park Inn): Kids have loads of fun, all while developing their coordination, self-awareness, confidence and skills. This age appropriate curriculum-based fitness and sports program provides little ones the chance to explore fitness with fun! Cost is $25 per child for Noblesville residents/$30 for non-residents. One session offered:
o Wednesdays, January 12, 19, 26, and February 2 from 10:30 – 11:15am

Safe Sitter® (Forest Park Lodge): Safe Sitter® teaches youth ages 11 – 13 how to handle crises, how to keep their charges secure, and how to nurture and guide a young child. IN the process, youth emerge as more confident, responsible, and compassionate teens. Participants receive Safe Sitter® certification upon successful completion of the program. Cost is $30 per person. One session offered:
o Wednesdays, January 4, 12, and 19 from 3:30 – 5:30pm

Music & Me Kindergarten/Preschool Chorus (Forest Park Lodge): Children love to sing and experience music. Participants will learn finger plays, action songs, clapping rhythms, and traditional songs. Your child will experience the joy of learning with music! Parents are welcome to stay and sing along with us. Cost is $48 per child for Noblesville residents/$55 for non-residents. One session offered:
o Thursdays, January 13, 20, 27, February 3, 10, and 17 from 9:30 – 10:15am

Kidz “Fitness is Fun” Boot Camp (Forest Park Inn): Boot camp-style fitness class for children ages 6 – 12 years old. Kids have fun with obstacle courses and drills designed for their age and developmental level. Every class will be different, keeping them interested and giving them
challenges. Cost is $25 per child for Noblesville residents/$30 for non-residents. One session offered:
o Thursdays, January 13, 20, 27, and February 3 from 5:30 – 6:15pm

Kids Beginning Chorus for Ages 4 – 7 (Forest Park Lodge): This chorus is a beginning of comprehensive musical education. Children will learn good breathing, posture, and pitch relationships. They’ll enjoy age-appropriate songs that will get them excited about singing and participating with other children! Cost is $48 per child for Noblesville residents/$55 for non-residents. One session offered:
o Thursdays, January 13, 20, 27, February 3, 10, and 17 from 6:00 – 6:45pm

Preschool Hip Hop Dance (Forest Park Inn): Join the fun and action with this exciting dance class. Children ages 3 – 6 will learn rhythm, coordination, routines, and “funk!” Dances are never repeated from session to session. There will be a performance the last 10 minutes of the final class. Cost is $35 per child for Noblesville residents/$40 for non-residents. One session offered:
o Thursdays, January 13, 20, 27, and February 3 from 6:15 – 7:00pm

Tumbling for 8 – 12 Year Olds (Forest Park Inn): This class teaches basic skills needed to be successful in gymnastics, cheer, and sports. Proper positioning for stunts is practiced. Spotlight on mat skills and a variety of other props. Terminology, poise, and rhythm are included. Cost is $35 per child for Noblesville residents/$40 for non-residents. One session offered:
o Thursdays, January 13, 20, 27, and February 3 from 7:15 – 8:00pm

Nature Discovery K/Preschool Enrichment Program (Forest Park Lodge): Children ages 3 – 6 investigate, explore, and have fun learning about animals and ecology. Games, songs, and crafts reinforce learning activities about our environment. The January theme is Winter is Here! This program continues throughout the school year and is concurrent with adult exercise classes. Cost is $32 per child per session for Noblesville residents/$37 for non-residents. Two sessions offered:
o Thursdays, January 13, 20, 27, and February 3 from 1:00 – 2:30pm
o Fridays, January 14, 21, 28, and February 4 from 9:15 – 10:45am

Music and Movement (Forest Park Lodge): This class is designed for 2 – 4 year old children, getting them active, moving to the music, and introduced to structured programs. Participants climb, run, jump, and play with other children as they learn. The class also strengthens alphabet, color, number, and animal knowledge by singing songs. Cost is $35 per child for Noblesville residents/$40 for non-residents. One session offered:
o Saturdays, January 15, 22, 29, and February 5 from 9:00 – 9:45am

Children’s Ballet for 3 – 5 year olds (Forest Park Lodge): Each new session brings original dances so that children can enjoy class each time it is offered. Parents are invited to watch the last 10 minutes of the final class. One session offered:
o Saturdays, January 15, 22, 29, and February 5 from 10:00 – 10:45am; cost is $35 per child for Noblesville residents/$40 for non-residents
